Default "failed" recordings with Sky+

Just asked Sky why I've suddenly started experiencing "failed" (reason
unknown) recordings.
I've missed 2DTV, Dead Ringers and Little Britain so I'm a bit annoyed after
telling all my friends & relatives how good Sky+ is.

Sky say it is a known fault and their cheif engineering bods are working on
it right now.

Looks like a software update has introduced a bug.

had that a few days back, 3 failed recordings all made (or not) the same
evening.

Me, too. Have you also had recordings that say they've recorded but show up
as 0%? When you delete them it also doesn't change the percentage used.
(This also happens with the failed recordings) I also was trying to show off
the virtues of Sky+ to my father-in-law only to see it repeatedly go
tits-up!

If you get the latter do a 'rebuild free space'.

Hmmmnn. That's interesting.

This happened to me last night with the "Curse of Radio One" programme.

When I spoke to a Sky call centre engineer (some months ago as it happes
about a completely separate issue), he said there was a defragmentation type
of utility built in.

So how exactly do I "rebuild free space"?

Thanks.

IIRC its 'services' at the top then do 4 0 1 select (dont look at the
screen, just do it) and then select defragment. *Dont* select the other
option which is something like reformat :-)
Otherwise google for it its been discussed here recently/

As you mention, the desired option is the rebuild personal planner
one, not the full reset.

Don't expect to get all your disk back. Mine never gives me more than 87%
after a rebuild.

I've only done it once and as I had existing recordings I didnt add it all
up to see if it came to 100%.
Might have a look later.

I've had a look, it adds up to 105% (Obviously rounding errors). I suggest
you need to do a complete rebuild not just the reformat.
