Default V2 Yellow House Sky Card

Was there a version 1? I only ask because I've seen them for sale on Ebay
and I have a blue Sky card (about two and a half years old)with a yellow
house on and Sky say I can't receive ITV, 4 and 5 without a sub yet all
these ads say you can.
Many Thanks

Now I'm totally confused. Someone selling exactly the same card but they're
saying it *won't* give you ITV,4 and 5.
Guess I gotta keep paying the subscription like Sky keep telling me.
They're saying summat about these companies changing things which is why I
can't get them without a sub anymore. Grrr

Yes there was a V1 card before the beginning of this year.

If you are currently subscribing to Sky, and you say you have had it over 2.5
years you would have been given a replacement viewing card, as V1 cards were
switched off.

Now if you are subscribing to Sky and you cancel your subscription, the card
*will* continue to give you ITV1, Ch4 and Five as it becomes a FTV (FreeSat)
card (now sold officially from Sky for £20).

Now these V2 cards for sale on Ebay could be V2 cards, but the seller has told
Sky they are broken / stolen as to get a new card and be able to sell the old
one on eBay. When the card is reported as stolen it is switched off - hence
will not allow you to view.

Remember many of the other channels are FTA so require no card at all.

You don't need a subscription for ITV,C4 & C5. FTV cards are available again for
20 pounds from Sky.You need to telephone them on 08706 061111.

But as we have told this poster on numerous occasions - if she simply stops
subscribing her card will revert to a freesat one (i.e have ITV,CH 4 &5),
she must have money to burn

Really, it is. It came with the sat system which I bought from the previous
occupier of the property just over two years ago and she'd had it a few
months before that.

Thanks for that info. I'll give it a try.

I haven't - which is the reason I'm whinging so much. I'm just scared if I
cancel my sub and lose the channels my family will do all sorts of
unmentionable things to me with my kitchen implements. :-))
Personally, I prefer the radio....

Somewhere along the line the card has been replaced, because new cards were
sent out less than 12months ago, and old ones no longer work.

I got Sky in Jan 2003 and a week or two afterwards got a new card, so that
makes it about 20 months ago I got my new card, not 'less than 12 months'.
