Default Tech Help please.

Firstly I have read the FAQs and I dont think they help.

I have Sky+ downstairs and a second subscription upstairs. Sky+ works fine.
Upstairs I have started to 'lose' channels. The message 'no satelite signal
received' (sic) comes up when I try to access various chanels. It used to
just one or two, now its about 2/3 of all channels. I phoned sky and they
couldn't help bar sending out a technician which I am loathed to pay for.

Any ideas would be greatefully received.

Is it an old box - that you shifted upstairs when you got Sky+?

I had the same problem on my old grundig, which turned out to be a well
documented PSU failure problem which manifested itself (strangely) as some
channels being lost.
In which case it is cheaper just to pay the repair and have them swop out the
box for a reconditioned one.

It is a Grundig, about 18 months old. Perhaps it is the same problem! I'm
fairly handy with PCB repair, although less good with diagnostics. Any idea
what the issue was with your Grundig box?

It could be one of the LNB outputs or indeed a power supply or tuner
problem with the box.

Disconnect the upstairs box and plug it into one of the Sky+ LNB feeds
downstairs. If it works OK then the LNB is faulty. You have a spare
output you can use. If it doesn't work downstairs either then the box
is faulty.
