I was hoping to see the controversial ref descisions in the Arsenal v Fulham
game. "Brendan DJ Murphy" wrote in message news:... The ManUre game "red6000" wrote in message ... tia. |

OK, having seen the highlights of the game on "Football First - Match
Choice", I, as an Arsenal supporter, conceede that the ref made a couple of bad descisions. The most worrying descision is awarding a penalty, then changing his mind quoting in a post-match interview..."because of the players' reaction" I still, even after carefully watching the slo-mo replays, can not see why Fulham were not awarded that 'goal' in the first half. I also conceede that Lauren should have been shown the red card in the match against Norwich two weeks ago. If Arsenal are going to win the premiership, I would rather we win it fairly. We certainly dont need lucky ref descicions for us to do it. Anyway. at the end of the day, it was 3-nil. 2 points ahead of Chelsea and goodness knows how many above Manchester United! :-) Brendan |

As a neutral I think by changing his mind Halsey actually reached the right decision. Andrew Cole was clearly unbalanced and poked the ball on to Lehman before Ashley Cole made any contact with him. He was not denied a scoring opportunity by the challenge as he had already fluffed it. Halsey's biggest mistake was blowing straight away for a penalty without consulting his assistant when you consider there were three players between him and the ball. He could not possibly have seen what happened. He was brave to admit his mistake, although I concede it might now be a difficult precedent. The disallowed goal - you see them stand and you see them over-ruled. I would be disappointed if my team was denied in that way. However, you were denied a clear penalty at the other end when Volz did his best to destroy Henry's achilles tendon. Don't beat yourself up about it. You scored three, were denied a clear chance of another and they had only one goal disallowed. You deserved to win it on the balance of the incidents. |
