Some people here seem to think that this is unimportant. In fact it is
a very serious problem. Until you have actually tried to get money
back that has been illegally debited from a card or bank account you
can't know how difficult, costly or time-consuming this can be, though
a bank direct debit agreement does have a lot going for it in this
respect.

Companies like these should not be allowed to retain customers'
banking or CC details, to prevent misuse.

Presumably you're referring, amongst others, to me? For the record, I
didn't suggest that it wasn't an important issue, but I did want to point
out that repeated bleating about it here is pointless.

I wasn't referring to anyone in particular.

I've just seen Auction World featured on BBC's Watchdog programme over
overhiked "Guide Prices"

Having seen what I have just seen, I certainly wouldnt touch this company
with a barge-pole.

If all this happened on your's / your dad's credit cards why are you
bothering to continue fruitless efforts with the TV company. If it's a
fraudelent transaction your credit company is liable. Speak with them
direct, get any monies owing off them and let them chase up the
culprits.

If however it's your bank account the rules appear less clear. I would
definately suggest a visit to the local branch though as I still think
claiming from them is much easier. Most have an online anti fraud
guarentee and I think you said you had the account with Auction world
via the internet?

It may also be too late, but for future reference you can also return
goods under the distance selling directive within 7 days of receipt
for no reason at all so you could have done this as well for the
faulty camera?

Not sure if this helps or not cos to be honest, I got a bit lost on
your original and subsequent posts.

Paul.
