Default * Do not give Auction World TV Your Bank Details *

I woke up this morning to discover they have STOLEN £158 from my bank
account.

Telephoned them spent 20mins in a Queue costing me god knows what !

Then they tell me to write in with my Bank Statement - Now I have to travel
35 mile to my town and print a statement to post to these cowboys.

The guy confirmed as well that no telephone bid was made from my telephone
but they had taken the money out for a Digital Camera that I never bloody
ordered !

I'm giving them until the end of this week and I'm going to the police !

AVOID these cowboys like the plague !

What's all the fuss about?

Ring your bank & tell them you want to make a claim under the Direct Debit
Indemnity Guarantee. If the money has been taken from your account in error,
they (the bank) must refund it to you straight away. Don't let them fob you
off.

Noooooo...as the cable guy says, you go to your bank and get them to get the
money back straight away. You dont want to be allowing them to put the onus
on you to prove its their mistake.

They needed a printed statement from the bank

Not received the camera either - but bank has said it may be a case for the
police as someone at Auction World may have tried to steal my money - it
appears someone there might have took the camera but charged my bank account
to pay for the camera.

Do you mean every other business in the uk is 100% perfect and have
never made any mistakes :-)

Did you get the camera - or did you check you bank account online or
summit - if not - cant you just do a photocopy .

How does it appear that someone else took the camera? I think it's highly
likely that someone else got the camera, though through a simple mistake,
rather than anything criminal. In the world of computers, when setting up a
DD, no paper is used - it is very easy for someone to give, or take down
account numbers incorrectly.

You seem to have missed my point.

Regardless of whether you involve the police, which is unlikely to be
necessary, tell the bank to refund the amount into your account TODAY. Quote
the "Direct Debit Indemnity Guarantee" when you ring & do not let them fob
you off, or let them send you back to the retailer.

The Direct Debit Indemnity Guarantee wouldn't apply in this case as (unless
the guy had had a bill issued 14 days before, informing him of the impeding
debit) it probably wasn't a direct-debit transaction. The charge was more
likely from a debit card. Unlike credit cards (which are covered under the
consumer credit act, and hence credit card company recovers the debt for
you), debit card transaction are more tricky and depend upon your bank as to
whether you or they chase the error for you.

There was an article in Sunday Mail financial bit last week about Auction
World, lots of people not receiving things they bid succesfully for. They
are also selling things which they do not have. I think the Mail is trying
to get some action taken against them.
