Default Installing Sky+

Is it a simple job replacing the LNB?

Yes, cus he could upgrade his box for cheaper than the new sky box.

I doubt it - not once he's bought it and installed it himself. At least I
couldn't.

Besides there's some chatter about the new box having other functionality
as
well.

I was just about to order Sky (as a new subscriber) but now I think I'll
wait.

Job done and a piece of cake. Full install for £175 and don't have to be
tied into Sky for another 12 months.

I don't think it's difficult as long as you have a decent level of DIY
wiring knowledge - but then many people think they have when they actually
don't.

With the Sky/Sky+ install or upgrade deals available I wouldn't even
bother
trying to do it myself - there doesn't seem to be anything to gain
financially or otherwise.

Gareth.

I did a diy upgrade to SKY+ after picking up a cheap receiver.

It only took me about 30min to perform the upgrade.

Changing the LNB is simple (or least it was in my case!). Simply
remove the securing pin and slide out the SKY LNB and slide in the new
"Quad" LNB.

I also used some CT63 (Shoutgun) cable using the existing (10mm) holes
drilled by during the initial SKY installation. You will need some
9mm cable clips instead of the 7mm ones.

One thing I did do was to perform the upgrade step by step

1. Change the LNB then test LNB1 using existing receiver / cable
2. Test LNB2 using existing receiver / cable
3. Change cable
4. Test cable input 1 using existing receiver
5. Test cable input 2 using existing receiver
6. Install new SKY+ box
7. Call SKY to match new SKY+ receiver / viewing card & activate SKY+
subscription.
