Default ITV Region change

I had to reboot the sky+ box last night - today I realised that the ITV
region had changed.

Has anybody else had this happen? Have the regoins changed? I haven't
changed my details with Sky and I ceratinly haven't moved house!

The postcode mapping that ITV and the BBC use for allocating the
correct region for Dsat viewers using SKY have recently been updated
in an attempt to make them more accurate.

You don't say if the new region is the one you want or should have

I live near Wrexham in North Wales and until a week ago my 'home' ITV
region was Granada, but all of a sudden it changed to HTV Wales, so now
I've got Granada in the 'other channels' section along with all other
main ITV regions.

As it happens I would rather have the old region (as it was London - an area
that I can identify with not Anglia) .
The main problem is that as a result of this seemingly rather pointless
change (given that the in the days of analogue signals the borders were/are
rather arbitary) is that my Sky+ box failed to record something that I'd set
up for ITV London as it reckoned that I no longer have the channel.
(actually I should consider this a bug as whenever a channel has previously
moved the Sky+ info has moved with it.)

As a result of Jomtiens reply to my OP I have just watched channel 999 (Last
time I looked at that channel it just seemed like it was a vehicle to push
the interactive services so I've never been back) and they say that Sky+
owners will get a letter about what will happen - I can't recal getting
one - anybody else?

One guy in the DS forum said he got a letter, I haven't but not had any region
changes and I would like to have BBC east midlands on 101 and not the
west midlands version

In amongst the dross and the ads I generally find one interesting item
each month.

In fairness to Sky, when ITV first went live on Sky, we, on the Wirral with
CH (Chester) Postcodes, we're given HTV to watch rather than Granada. A few
of us queried this with Sky as we're close to Wales, but not actually in it
! Sky changed the postcode mappings within a week or so and we've had
Granada ever since.

From my experience it would appear that if enough people in the locale
query their postcode mapping then Sky will actually listen, especially if
Sky's postcode mapping is slightly awry as it was in my case.

There are a whole stack of BBC regional changes going on over the next
couple of months. I received a reply from the BBC yesterday - I had
emailed to ask why people living 25 miles north of Hyde Park have to
get their regional news from Norwich on 101. The reply stated that
mine would be changing to London on 17th of this month - in fact it
happened last night sometime as I am now London.

The Sky+ series links for BBC 1 Anglia survived although obviously now
on a different channel number to 101.
