Default Returning to Sky?

For the past few years I've been living in a place where the lease doesn't
allow dishes to be attached to the building.

Now I'm free of lease restrictions my mind has turned to a Sky subscription
after many happy years of Sky from 1988 to 1999.

All I can say is this: wtf?!!?! Sky want £40 a month for a full channel
package which, imho, is absolutely f****** outrageous. Even if I accept that
Sky pay crazy amounts of money for football contracts I only save about £4 a
month by losing the sports channels.

I remember when Sky offered genuinely good value for money but I was
actually shocked to read the current subscription prices. I would rather pay
for installation and hardware - as I did in 1988 with analogue and again in
1994 (?) with digital - and subsequently enjoy lower subscription costs than
the current crap deals.

I've been away from Sky for quite a long time. I suspect that otherwise I
wouldn't have noticed what must have been a gradual set of ultimately crazy
price increases.

Oddly I notice that NTL is no better - and possibly even slightly worse when
you consider that the main savings are made by using NTL for telephone and
broadband as well.

Anyway, is it just me or is Sky offering **** value for money?

Gareth.

You're not the only one who thinks that way. Fortunately for Sky there
are millions of us who don't.

Lol, yeah there are plenty of people who think that way. It is a lot of
money. OTOH Sky are under no obligation to provide an affordable service
so they charge what they think the market will tolerate. Apparently they
have judged it quite well as they have a very low (for the industry)
churn figure.

Are people who are being offered and enjoying these cut price deals included
in their figures? It would be interesting to know how many people are not
paying full price for whatever package they are on.

£6 a month actually. And if you don't take the movies either it's just
£19.50 a month. Why don't you just pick a package that suits your
price range?

I recently left Sky, and at the time I had 3 box's in different locations
(before anyone asks !). I cancelled the lot, and returned to normal tv.

I got a phone call from Sky offering me HALF PRICE ANY PACKAGE for SIX
months, so I took the FULL package.

A £4/£2 difference did not worry me as I dont watch the sport channels but
have alot of mates that do !.

IT would be interesting to see if I was counted in the figures you mention
!.

Hey Mick,

Take them up on the offer - I did, and they have not even charged me yet, I
have had the half price offer for some 2 months now.

Another interesting fact (well maybe not), I was speaking to a sub
contracted out Sky engineer the other day, and he told me that Sky will
promise anything to get you on board. He was telling me about some of the
horror stories or horror instillations he has encountered.

Makes you wonder if they are keeping the subscriber base in-tact so to speak
ready for a sale of the company or part of it ??.

Ben

I going to. I`m just waiting until closer to the closing date (24th) which
will mean I will have the footy up until xmas.

This is the third time I`ve had the 50% offer. The other two were only for
three monthes though.

I would certainly never go back to paying full whack. Half price is just
about fair value.
