As it is the only people who
got to watch it are those who pay vast sums for Sky Sports & even then get
mostly blanket football coverage.

Sky Sports does not have blanket football coverage. Far from it.

My mistake. Not being a subscriber I had assumed from all the adverts on other
Sky channels that football was the major component of their programming at least
they never seem to be promoting any other sports.

Last Tuesday or Wednesday (forget which). I was out on Saturday, so
couldn't watch it.

Though live football is the main financial attraction I guess, fooball is not
the majority of the schedule. Live Rugby League and Union are also covered
extensively. Cricket is a good example, covering not just England matches - and
given the hours required to cover a live test match, this can fill up the
schedules. Same for sports like Darts and Snooker - long hours. Boxing,
wrestling feature highly, and Tennis.
Motor sport is probably the weakest area of coverage on Sky Sports.

Agree about the motorsport coverage, thankfully the FTA channel Motors TV
covers that area very well
