Default Moving House

I know Sky have a deal where they will erect a new dish at your new house
for £40. Is there any minimum contract to get this deal or could I get the
dish up and cancel my subscription after a month or two and then use the
dish to access the FTA channels?

I paid £40 to Sky when recently moving house,Three installers tuning up and
*No can do because of trees* The last booked another install for Toda
(Saturday) installed the dish on brackets over-looking the roof and demanded
ANOTHER £40!
So that's a total of £80.00 to put a poxy little dish up I could have done
myself because I already had the brackets and pole that bolt to the wall
The problem was before moving,Sky insisted I leave my dish and quad LNB at
my old house,So I'd no choice but to shell out for either a New Dish,LNB and
coax and fit myself or pay the extortion fee today :-(

I'll wait until Monday morning when I know the Sky cretins are actually
*working* to have some severe words.

So,Check where you're moving to for trees etc and make sure it's not a
*special install* otherwise you'll get much the same 4 install attempts with
only the final getting it done (and then charging what you've already paid
Sky)
(Incidently,The first installer did'nt even check as the phone company
had'nt been to connect my line and he left insisting the line HAD to be
connected to install) The installers today did'nt even ask for the modem
cable and it's still not plugged in now..F*ck em'

Sky insisted you leave YOUR dish at the old property, That's so they can do
what they did with you, I would have told them to stick it and done it
myself, Sky DO NOT own the dish.

It's your dish, you can do with it what you please.

Sorry to hear about your problems but do you have to agree to a minimum
contract and to have the telephone line connected for 12 months. If you do I
will get it done by an independent dealer.

The dish, LNB & cables belong to you, so $ky had no authority to tell you to
leave the dish, it's none of their f*cking business.

Thanks Mike (and the other posters who replied) I had suspected this at the
time but Sky said "No problem we'll supply the new dish and LNB at your new
property"
I'd mentioned the trees and the possibility of needing a *special install*
but Sky thought they knew what was best as always

I'm phoning them today to see what they say because I'm sure £80.00 Total is
a bit on the expensive side for a re-fit?
To the other poster who mentioned the 12 month contract....I've been with
Sky about 2 years now but the first install insisted he could'nt set up the
Sky+ without the phone line being on yet (Just left and ignored my request
to check the trees to save coming back if there would be a problem a third
time!)

The biggest joke of course is Saturday arrived,Dish fitted as I'd thought
(At the back overlooking the roof) The installer did'nt even ask for the
modem cable to the digibox and just left it !

I must admit though,The new installers did do a great job and having no
problems...I guess that's a good thing anyway

Just a pity it took three visits and another £40.00 thanks to Sky insisting
I left my other dish at my old property?

Colin

I'm just a run of the mill sky customer... they will install a new dish and
if needed, new cabling for £40. Anything they install has a further warranty
of 3 months.

If you have had your contract with Sky for longer than a year then you are
under no obligation to stay with them for any longer. The moving deal is
just a phone call and a credit card number... nothing further to sign other
than a confirmation that they have installed the new dish successfully.

Hope that helps?

I suppose in fairness to $ky, your old dish may be corroded and $ky would
wish you to have a new one at the new premises.
Anyway, watch and enjoy $ky at your new pad, I've had $ky for two and a half
years and I think it's great.
Regards Mike.
