I am about to have Sky installed after many years of using cable, so am
pretty ignorant as far as they are concerned. Before I go ahead and sign up with them, I would appreciate it if someone could please answer a few questions I haven't managed to find the answers for: 1. Is it true that I can sign up for the £40 in order to qualify for the free (£1) installation and ask them immediately to transfer to the Family Pack which is what I am really after (ending up paying £40 only for the 1st month)? 2. We are in the advanced stages of planning an extension to our house that will result in our main TV point being moved from the back of one end of the house to the front and the other end of the house. The total distance will be around 20m. Assuming that we ask for the digibox to be fitted where the TV is at present, what would be involved in moving it to the new location? Can it be DIYed buy running a cable around the house (externally or internally)? Alternatively, can the dish itself be moved easily? What about calibration then? Many thanks in advance, J. |

Yes. See the FAQ. 2. If you are doing building work anyway then why not just run a conduit and suitable sat cable (preferably two for future Sky+ use) from the future TV site to the location of the dish. Cover the ends with insulating tape until such time as one or both can be fitted to the dish. Moving a dish correctly requires both knowledge and a meter and the above solution will avoid this. Be sure to waterproof all outdoor connections. -- Digibox problem? : A reboot solves 90% of these.
