box just bought on eBay wont accept new software when forced

seems to work fine, ive only tried to force the update once, do they
broadcast the software changes constantly?

As others have said wait, it will appear eventually without the need
for any intervention. I shouldn't worry anyway, the new software
doesn't offer anything useful. (In fact you get an irritating "Don't forget
to plug your phone line in" pop up on mains power up.)
