Free to air/freeview

Hi

New to digital TV. Only recieve analogue currently. Am interested in
free UK digital TV, but not in Freeview coverage area. I live in N.
Yorkshire. I can get hold of a Sky dish and set top box.

1] Can I use this hardware to get freeview channels?
2] Are freeview channels and satellite free-to-sir synonymous? Do you
get all the same channels on... Looked around on the net for uk
listings in vain.

Appreciate any advice

No. But you can use it to get BBC channels plus some 24 news channels and a
few other bits and bobs.

2] Are freeview channels and satellite free-to-sir synonymous?

No. Definitely not. ITV, C4, C5 etc are encrypted from satellite and you
need a card to decrypt them (and a $ky box). The cards are no longer
available - even for normal purchase. However there are a few methods of
getting them still. None of these methods is simple.

Complain to OfCom. Loudly. And your MP.
