Default Sky - cheapest option?

My only interest in getting a Sky satellite dish and digibox is to be
able to select which local channel I wish to receive (I currently live
in Wales so cannot get C4 or BBC West for example, instead I get the
Welsh equivalenta, ie S4C, BBC Wales, etc).

What is currently the cheapest Sky installation I can go for achieve
my aim?

Maybe the £1 installation of Sky World and Family?

Can I still then cancel after only the one month meaning that I only
then pay a months' subscription charge of £40 and that's it?

Or am I missing something?

Do I then get to keep the equipment free 'for life'?

thanks

You can downgrade after the first month to the cheapest package, but
you'll still have to pay that for 11 months

I see. So I can downgrade to the Sky Entertainment Package (Value
Pack) for £13.50 then for the remaining 11 months.

If I did that, how long do I need to keep the digibox connected to the
phone line - just one year?

Do I then get to keep the equipment free 'for life'?

Experience suggests you'll be lucky to get more than a few years out
of the box anyyway

Just as long as they don't try and take it away.

cheers

Yup, mine is almost dead. It usually chooses to go off ten minutes before
the end of Eastenders or something else I love to watch. Then they bring out
Sky Plus just as I need a new digibox (mine is four years old). So of course
I order Sky Plus. They win.

I am still using one of the very first Sky digiboxes ever made. It is
a Grundig that was activated during the first week of service and
bought used by me from the original owner after a few months when he
had to move into a listed building where dishes weren't allowed. It
works perfectly though it is a little slow.
