I've recently finished decorating our kitchen, and have sky digital piped
through a normal coax cable from our sky box in the living room. However we want to be able to watch another channel in the kitchen, so was thinking of getting a dual/quad LNB and second hand digibox and setting up another system in the kitchen, however I don't want any new cabling showing, thus I was wondering if it were possible to run new satellite cable from the LNB to a suitable point in the house then attach the cable (using the correct connectors) to normal coax for the final 2-3 metres or so before terminating onto a suitable satellite socket on the wall. Any one like to comment on the likelihood of it working? Additionally I've a series 2 FTV card to go with the proposed system which hasn't been used, a few months ago when I got it and inserted it into my existing box it had ITV/ch4 /ch5, now it doesn't, saying contact broadcaster to upgrade, it does however give access to ch 998 & 999, thus if I leave it in the box for a day or so will they re-appear? thanks in advance Jon |

Any one like to comment on the likelihood of it working? It would be better to replace the cable but it should work anyway. Additionally I've a series 2 FTV card to go with the proposed system which hasn't been used, The card has *never* been used? Then it needs activating. a few months ago when I got it and inserted it into my existing box it had ITV/ch4 /ch5, now it doesn't, saying contact broadcaster to upgrade, it does however give access to ch 998 & 999, thus if I leave it in the box for a day or so will they re-appear? Sorry that should have read: ...... hasn't been used for 6months If activated the card should wake up within a day or so. Excellent once again, many thanks for all your help all the best Jon |
