Default cancelling $ky

I'm fed up with $ky showing the same programs over and over again and am
equally fed up with the latest price hike so i'm thinking of cancelling my
$ky subscription.

If I do and then they start showing something good that makes me want to
re-subscribe is there any minimum period (like the minimum 12 month thing
when I 1st joined a few years back)

Thanks in advance

I doubt very much SKY1 could ever show one program that would be so good
you would pay £13.50 minimum a month to watch
As long as you keep the existing SKY smartcard it can be upgraded back to
a subscription card by a simple phone call, one month minimum term since you
have already met the 12 month min term when you first subscribed.

You might want to check that. All customers returning now have to
sign a new contract, will be sent a new viewing card, and will be
subject to a new 12 month contract. However - the good thing - is
that if your box goes tits in that 12 month period (even if you supply
it yourself) they will come out to replace it FOC.

Cheers

First time I have heard that, the source?

I do know they started to charge some people a sign on fee of £40 mainly
to stop previous subscribers with a P1 issue card resigning for a single month
to get a new card for FTV use.
I can't see the sense of forcing people to commit to a new 12 month contract,
they left in the first place and nothing much has changed with the service to
make another year more attractive than a month here or there as content changes.

This seems unlikely.

The card has nothing to do with the box.

AFAIK that's a minimum fee rather than an extra re-activation fee.

I've had Sky for a very long time (over ten years). If it was not for the
footy and sports coverage I would not bother.
Sky 1,UK this and that etc are utter twoddle.
Never watch them. I'd bet that there a 100 of thousands of people who are
just sports fans who have the rest of the package because they might watch
the odd film or ??.

Happy new year

First time I have heard that, the source?

My lengthy discussions with them last week.

I do know they started to charge some people a sign on fee of £40 mainly
to stop previous subscribers with a P1 issue card resigning for a single month
to get a new card for FTV use.

The contract now states that you are signing up for a minimum of
twelve months in the small print. I pointed out that since there was
no subsidy being given as I installed the dish and supplied the box
myself which I bought retail - that I wasn't under any agreement with
them to keep the box plugged in to the phone, nor to be bound by a
minimum of 12 months, but they insist otherwise.

They are right - it is in the contract - but it's that badly worded I
think it could honstly go oether way if you were to put it before a
lawyer

Cheers
Dan.

That's what I was told repeatedly by a number of people at $ky.

However - the good thing - is
that if your box goes tits in that 12 month period (even if you supply

I know. This came about as we have 2 boxes. Both bought - one from
sky - nearly 5 years old now (Old pace) that's a bit sick (as in they
updated the software and made it sick) and one new Panasonic that I
bought and installed myself. We have two subs cards - and the newer
subs card they now insist is for a period of 12 months minimum as it's
a new contract (was previously FTA only) - and is now covered by them
for a year. I repeatedly explained the situation - but they insist
that this is the case.

I put it to them that if I were to cancel the old box and then take
out a new package again with the same vieweing card what would happen
and they repeated the exact same information.

Ho hum.

Cheers
Dan.

Simple solution. Take them up on their free digibox offer for the 12 month
subscribtion. When techie arrives, tell him to place new digibox under your
yet to be removed christmas tree, stick new card in old box and activate.
When you get the chance, advertise new digibox, still in original sealed box
on ebay, and collect some money. Make sure you get your free dish too!
