Default Alternative to Sky digi box

Mine is on its way out, I do have a spare Bush one in loft, but was thinking
of buying a box that would allow me to get sky and also hotbird with a
second lnb, any good boxes that will do both.

Only SKY badged digiboxes will allow you to watch SKY's Videoguard
encrypted subscription and the FTV channels.
The SKY digibox spec is intended only for SKY services and as such
has limited use for FTA digital channels, if you want to maximise your
access to the digital feeds across Europe then you will have to buy
along with a SKY digibox a FTA digital STB with or without a CAM slot.

No. $ky has ensured that there is no third party development of receivers
capable of decrypting NDS Videoguard. If you want a useful box for 13E then
you are just going to have to get two boxes.

I'm about to pipe a 28.2E feed into one of my real digital boxes[1] which
has a PVR but from Astra 2 it will only be good for FTA stuff - ie in my
case news channels and BBC. Whereas for $ky-crypted 28.2E channels (eg ITV,
C4 etc) your only choice is a $ky box. There are NO videoguard CAMs and
none in prospect. (If there had been any plans to produce a CAM, the launch
of $ky Italy would have been the time to do it.)

[1] Just bought a Televes Octo (ie 8-feed) lnb for my 28.2/28.5 dish.
