Default Version 1 and Version 2 boxes

I'm new to Sky+, and having scanned the FQ section, cannot find much info on
this querie. I wonder if anyone in here can help.

I got SKy+ installed with a V1 recorded/decoder (i have it on trial for 5
weeks). Is the V2 unit significantly better (aesthetics aside) than this V1
unit and, assuming it is, what leverage can I use with Sky to ensure they
give me a V2 box, should I decide to part with some hard earned at the end
of the trial?

Anyone had any experience of such negotiations?

Any help appreciated.

TIA

There is no practical difference in operating terms between the two
versions of SKY+, if you pay full price for the SKY+ after the trial
then you should get a new version 2 SKY+ unit.
The original design went out of production about 9 months ago and
existing stocks of that design are long gone.

As Mike has said, the V1 is out of production (my dead V1 was replaced with
a V2 just last week) so if you have a V1 it must be a refurb so I would just
make having a new V2 part of your conditions for accepting it.

But there is no difference in functionality or capability at all between the
V1 and V2.

Judging by the recent posts by people having problems, if he has a V1 box
that is working properly he may be better off sticking with it.
