Default Loss of recorded subscription programs

If you've recorded from a channel which you then stop subscribing to, do you
lose the ability to play the recording.

For example if you've recorded something from Sky Sports, drop the sports
subscription, can you still watch it?

I am not completely certain but I think you are right. The card is used to
decode the program at time of playback, therefore I believe if you are not
subscribing to the channel you can't playback. This is also why you cannot
playback recordings if you have no signal (EG during bad weather).

Yes.

No. It's your sub at playback time that matters.

Conversely, you can record a channel which you don't subscribe to, but
will be able to watch it if you subscribe at a future date.
