Default Version 1 v Version 2

I had today, via my company, a special offer on Sky + - basically they've
found a way of getting rid of all those refurbed boxes!

Question 1 - is a refurbed box likely to be problematic? Or no worse than a
brand new one, or better even?

Question 2 - I understand it's a Version 2 box. they assure me there's no
technical difference except that it's 33% smaller and white instead of
silver.

Given the tripe I've been handed on other ocassions by Sky in answering my
questions, I thought I'd ask here!

Cheers
Andy

1) No more so than the original since problems seem to be solved by replacing
the faulty component and not repairing it and since some STB's are working
fine and over two year olds it maybe more down to bad luck or perhaps the
results of overheating and poor ventilation.

2) No practical difference between the functions of the two versions but there
are certainly cosmetic differences.

So what is the offer? You can get a brand new V2 box installed for
£200, BTW. Unless you are paying a lot less than this it isn't worth
it.

Most faults with the Sky+ are to do with dead or dying hard drives.
This is no big deal as most of the drives will probably die within 5
years anyway. Anyone with a Sky+ (or a Tivo or any other PVR) should
expect to have to replace the drive one day.

It's half that price.

They are coming Tuesday 16th - next date was January!
