Default New Sky+ Customer Needs Help!

Hi all, and apologies if either of these questions have been asked before.

We had our upgrade to Sky+ today and all seems well, except :

1) When going to set up 'Favourites' every time I go to the option I get a
'There is a technical fault, please try later" message - this has been
happening since installed at 2pm.

2) I have a 32" Toshiba with built in Dolby Digital decoder which has both
coax and optical input. Now, i've been using the optical on the DVD player
but have now changed that to use the coax and the Sky+ box to use the
optical. When first testing, I had no sound but worked out that I couldn't
have both inputs in the TV at the same time, so the coax came out and,
voila, Sky+ now producing sound via the optical.

I flicked over to Sky Movies 1 where there was some film playing in Dolby
Digital, checked the TV sound options, and sure enough Dolby Digital sound.
Flicked back to BBC1 and it correctly was playing in normal Pro Logic.

I have just gone back to the movie channels, and the ones marked DD (and one
that isn't) output no sound whatsoever. Changed the settings for the
optical output in the Sky+ settings back to 'Normal' and sound is back, but
obviously not Dolby Digital.

Am I doing something wrong or has anyone else encountered these problems?

Cheers.

Ian..

There are some known problems with the DD sound on Movies 1, 2 & 3.

It is not your equipment but a problem at Sky's end which is being
investigated by the technical department.

Donnie.

I had this problem the other day, I've had my Sky+ for a couple of months
now and everythins worked fine until I had this problem. Movie channels 1-6
had no sound at all, all the other settings were fine. If I went into the
sound setup on the sky box and set it from DD to Stereo the sound worked
fine.

I checked the optical cable to make sure it hadn't come loose and it was
fine. The problem turned out to be I hadn't wired up all the other audio
leads from the sky box/my tv to the amp properly (im a total audio novice
and im sure its not setup as it should be anyway) but it made the sound come
back and all is happy in the world. While it doesn't stop the DD drop outs
that others have mentioned, it does stop there being no sound at all on the
movie channels.

Thanks for the replies - any idea about the 'Favourites' problem? It's
still not working.

Cheers.

Known problem with DD, if you switch over to a DD broadcast 301 etc... and
get no sound, just pause for a couple of seconds then hit play, hence being
2-3 seconds behind time. This normally kicks out the sound.

I get the error when I go the 'Favorites' menu.

i.e. Go to Services, Press 7 for Favourites and the "Techincal error, try
later" message appears.
