Default Sky+ interferes with phone

I just got Sky+ and now there is a slight background buzz on my phone line,
anyone else get this and how do you get rid of it? I've got adsl but have
proper splitters in each socket.

This is a FAQ. Just pull the digibox phone lead out. It's only there
to help you spend more money.

Simple solution - Unplug it. The only reason it's there is to connect to
the web and upload your PPV bill.

What they really mean is once in awhile, but not to
often, otherwise you get a nasty letter from Keith Hawkins - Consumer

OK, thanks , just thought there maybe another solution apart from
unplugging.

If you really want it plugged in, make sure it's not getting electomagnetic
interference. Fans, powercords, etc near a cheap (and believe me the cord
provided is cheap) phone cord will produce this hum (remember the old days
of AM radio, when the hum got faster as you accelerated!)

Most reports of Sky (and Sky+) buzzing on the line seem to have been due to
poor connections on the extension cable to it. It's MOST unusual for the STB
itself to generate any noise.
