Default Black Screen but sound works????

This just started with my Panny 30 about a week ago. Every once in a while
the screen goes black (does NOT say No Sat Signal being received) but I can
still hear the channel. Sometimes it goes back to normal by itself and
other times I need to reboot the box. I have looked at the FAQ as well as
searching through Google and cannot find anything about this (not the same
it seems as the ITV problem since it happens on other channels for me). Any
help would be wonderful since I cannot call up Sky (am in Italy).

Have you checked the SCART leads are plugged in fully? If they're
partially out then you'll get the above.

Yep checked them all and all are fine. This morning I turned on the digibox
and got a black screen and no way to reboot. Box fried?????

It means the digibox is not sending an rgb picture, and the receiver is not
able to display the video picture due to how it has been set up. Panasonic
recorders can take either but will not autoswitch between and show a black
screen with sound if it is the wrong one.
Try pressing the sky button to reinstate the rgb output.

You need to know that pressing the tv button on the sky remote turns the rgb
output to video and causes this to happen, and is easily done if turning the
tv to standby or changing analogue channels whilst recording from sky. If
you don't press the sky button again before viewing through the unit or a
timer recording starts there will be no picture recorded.

This is true for all the Panasonic recorders, and probably other rgb in
enabled makes as well, and has caused me to miss so many recordings that the
tv button on my remote has been physically disabled to stop it happening
again.
