Had sky+ installed today and after the engineer left i
checked everything worked ok. i have a toshiba rptv with 3 scart sockets , sky box to s1,video to s2 and dvd to s3 ,sky box is also scarted to the video. This setup is identical to my previous setup with my old box. For some reason i get no sound on scart 1 although i do if i record that channel and play it back on scart 2 .I also get sound on scart 2 channel. any ideas why i get no sound on scart 1. Andy. |

Does your Tosh TV support Dolby Digital (like mine). If so it would be
worth setting whether in the TV setup the sound on SCART 1 is set to Digital. If it is then it will be expecting its sound signal via an optical or coax connection not SCART. If not trying wrigging the SCART connectors at TV and Sky+ ends. Sometimes it is just a matter of bad connections. Also slightly unrelated, check your SCART 3. If it is like mine it does not support RGB in and therefore, you are not getting the best from your DVD. Cheers, Nigel "A.J.B" wrote in message ... Also , i had no telephone point in the same room as the
tv so engineer and i both agreed that we would just run my extension cable from the hall telephone point to the sky box to register it then just disconnected it. Andy. |

I get no sound out of the VCR scart - fortunately I'm not going to have to argue the toss about the problem cos the box shuts down and switches itself off a couple of times a day so will have to be replaced anyway.... do people normally get back the installer or go to sky (the installer left me his mobile number last week)..... then how long does it normally take to get a new box? |

Just thought I'd add a bit - I called Sky about my problems and they suggested a download of new software - I did that last night and have had no lockups since and the sound from the VCR scart is now loud and clear. To do a software download, 1. Switch the box off at the wall 2. Hold down the backup button then (while keeping it pressed) plug the box back into the mains. 3. Keep holding the backup button for about 30 seconds at which stage 4 lights on the box start to flash. You can now let go of the button. 4. Wait 10 minutes for the software download (if you have the TV on while you do this you will have a message on the screen to tell you whtas going on) 5. When the lights go out (the message on the TV will disappear at the same time) you shoudl be able to take the box out of standby (using remote or the button on the box) and voila! Hopefully you a have a working box..... Which begs the question... why don't Sky installers do this as part of the standard installation? It would save customers grief (my immediate impression of Sky+ is that its unreliable), save on service centre staff, add to customer confidence. By the way - the two people I spoke to at the call centre were very pleasant and helpful and neither of them told me to reboot the system! I'm now happy! |

But bear in mind, new software update shappen from time to time, and tehre is no guarantee that downliing the latest s/w will fix things.
