Default $ky don't want my business!!!!

This is a bit complicated apparently.

I have had sky digital since 1999 (which I paid for) and before that
Sky Analogue for many years. The contract is in my name.

I have seperated from my wife but want to leave the digibox with my
wife for the kids sake, but she does not want to take up a contract
herself yet but use it as freeview so she still has ITV2 CBBC etc.

I want to install $ky in my new flat.

$ky won't let me have another installation. I cannot cancel my
existing contract, transfer it to my wifes name and re-order $ky.
Because according to their record I have already had one digibox and
free installation (it wasn't free - I paid) but apparently that
doesn't matter.

Now this seems simple to me. Just sell me a new digibox!!! I
suggested it would be quite reasonable for my new partner to order
$ky. But NO $ky say I can't do that because they'll cross reference
the bank details. Err no they won't! She has a different name, bank
account, and different address (to what they have on record for me).
Ludites!!!! The $ky lady says doesn't matter they'll find out. Yeah
right. Do they want my business?

They are quite happy for my wife to have a new contract and digibox
and me to retain the old one. But I can't make them understand that
my wife only wants freeview and not have to pay.

I know I can go and buy a digibox, why should I if they're giving them
away? If I have to buy a digibox I may as well have $ky+

Anyway, I haven't got $ky and they have lost a customer. Nice one.

Many people have easily managed to get a new contract and a new digibox by
using a different credit card to pay the subs If I read your post correctly
you have told Sky your circumstances, just call again and don't say
anything, just say you are a brand new subscriber. Or even better, go into a
local store and order there. My local independant was VERY helpful when I
moved house 2 years ago.

PS: ITV2 is a pay channel on Sky.

Even those people like myself who were the first to take SKY D
and paying £200 were still paying a subsidised price, therefore as SKY state
you have benefited from the interactive/bib subsidy.

As Simon mentions ITV2 is a subscription channel anyone so you have to take
out a subscription or look to Freeview (DTT) which is probably the better
option for the ex if she is living in a coverage area.
Otherwise just buy a second hand digibox or new one and then get a FTV
smartcard for £23.50 for the ex and pay an independent to install a dish
in your flat which you then use with your digibox and smartcard.

Not complicated at all.

Cancel existing sub. Existing card acts as FTV.

Ask for a complete new install for £1 at new house. Say nothing about
the old sub or box.

Strangely I have the same problem when I write $ky. Shame they didn't
call themselves ?uropaTV :-)

The Euro sign came out as a 'question mark', is this something to do with my
settings or yours...

Test... ? - This should be a Euro sign

BTW My keyboard has the dollar sign problem when writing Micro$oft...strange
that.

Tricky one this - I checked my posting after it has been sent and it
showed a Euro sign after it has been to Claranews and back. I think
it is your end?

However to my discredit I am using a Micro$soft operating system
(Windows 2000) :-)
