Default New Sky+ won't record - planner just says 'Failed' next to each recording

Hi,

Had Sky+ installed today. Engineer did a quick demo of pausing live tv
etc. which seemed to work fine. When I had time later on I set up a
few programs to record and went out. When I came back each program in
the planner just had 'Failed' next to them and all I could do was
delete them. Spoke to Sky+ and they got me to do a couple of system
resets but it made no difference. All they suggested was to send
another engineer out which means I've got to wait until next weekend
at the earliest as I'm not around during the week.

I thought I'd have a look through the system menus and found that in
the signal strength, Input 1 was fine but there was nothing for Input
2 and it said 'Not locked'. I tried swapping the 2 connectors around
on the back but it made no difference.

Having just sold my TiVo to make way for Sky+ I'm now extremely peeved
that I have nothing to record programmes with. In desperation, does
anybody have any suggestions or am I really gonna have to wait for
this engineer?

Cheers,
Martin.

It sounds like Tuner 2 is totally screwed, if it was the LNB or cable then you
would have got some response when you switched the cables.
Get the installer back out, if they replace the SKY+ (very likely) make sure
they give you a brand new one and make sure you get credit for your
subscription and something for the trouble.
The installer at THE very least should have visually confirmed a signal on tuner2,
testing the LNB output isn't enough!
