Default Cancelling Sky

Hi I have decided to get Telewest broadband so will be cancelling Sky
shortly as I will also be getting the minimum package from Telewest. So what
is the quickest and easiest way to cancel Sky. The day before my direct
debit is due and cancelling the DD or giving them a months notice? I won't
be getting Telewest for another 2 weeks so I don't want to miss the new
StarGateSG1. In otherwords will I be cut off the minute I get off the phone?
My DD is taken on the 13th of the month. Will my old card be of use to
anyone?

Helpful suggestions welcome, any others will be taken with a pinch of salt.
And I never check this email address.
Thanks Jackie

Erm, normally it will last until the end date of your DD. So yes, if
you cancel on the 14th, you will have it until the 13th of the
following month. However, I recently cancelled the movie package and
that was taken off less than 2 hours after I put the phone down. The
next month's payment has been adjusted accordingly.

You can still use it to receive ITV/Ch4/5.

You have to give them a months notice - which isn't now related to the
payment date at all. Sky are actually pretty good at adjusting DD amounts
to reflect any upgrades/downgrades.

If you have subscribed to Sky for a minimum of 12 months, you can cancel at
a month's notice. They will adjust your payment to reflect your
cancellation. But when you phone, they will try a hard sell to keep you on
Sky, by rubbishing cable companies and suggesting cheaper packages etc.
Others have been offered a reduced sub. Just persist and eventually they'll
give in. And a letter expressing their great regret will follow.

When I cancelled Sky I was told it was 30 days notice required
independent of when your payment date was. You get another DD done for
any days beyond.... if you see what I mean.
