That's what happens in August - Jay has a vacation as do all decent guests -
Letterman is the same

hmmmm, ive been following the guest calander on the NBC web site
http://www.nbc.com/nbc/The_Tonight_S...y_Leno/guests/

It has not indicated any holiday over the last few weeks, and Leno is noted
for never taking a holiday. Of course, the same guests ive been seeing on
that site could have been guests for a stand-in host I suppose... but why
would FTN not show the program with the stand-in....im sure they have the
rights to "the tonight show" full stop, regardless of who is hosting it.

I don't think Leno takes the breaks that Johnny Carson did.He took lots of
vacations and didn't do Monday nights at all.
He was of course the "king" of late night talk.

the shows they are showing as per the website guest list are repeats
so we are seeing on ftn the same as in usa which is the same as in denmark
leno always takes a few days off every so often to do stand up out of town -
and then they show repeats

Ooops, sorry to Holcroft, i accidentaly sent him this post instead of to
group....

Thats quite interesting, and does add up, as some of the guests this week, I
did think that had been on quite recently and was odd that they were back on
again so soon.

That said....last night, we didnt get Kevin Costner, which was what was
listed as being the US Monday guest.

Also, I got the following email from FTN today....

"Thanks for your e-mail. This may be down to one of two possibilities.
Either Jay Leno is taking a break in the US, so there will NOT be any new
shows for a small while, obviously until they start production again, or we
are currently trying to secure the rights to new shows. Although we have the
UK rights to the show, once our contract is up we need to go back into talks
with NBC to gain the rights to any new shows. This is the most likely
scenario, and we, hopefully, will be catching up with The Tonight Show very
soon.

Best Wishes,
FTN"

It all does seem to be pointing towards a holdiay for Jay, as I cant believe
they would be having to renegoitiate a contract so soon.

Very good of FTN to reply to me I have to say.....I didint expect one !

"May be"! They don't bloody know??

Could be UFO activity ... really, we just, erm y'know, don't really ... er
....

Although we have the
UK rights to the show, once our contract is up we need to go back into

talks
with NBC to gain the rights to any new shows.

Yes, I would if I were you. That's probably quite a good idea you've had
there - be a shame if no-one acted on it...

Honestly, what a bunch of losers.

This is the most likely
scenario, and we, hopefully, will be catching up with The Tonight Show

very
soon.

....or not. Who (apparently) cares.

:-(
