Don't bother doing that either - all I received was a standard letter.

The standard ones I read here are

---
Dear Mr/Mrs XXXXX,

Thank you for writing to me with your comments/complaint/suggestions
regarding XXXXX .

Please allow me to explain, Sky.... etc.

I hope this has answered your question/complaint/has helped you.
----

...and completely ignores specific points made.

Gareth

Might want to start but not calling people muppets?

Tell me would you talk like that to a shop assistant... face to face....??

As someone who once worked in customer care (not Sky) you go to the bottom
of the pile if you go on the phone with that attitude. Demanding to speak

to
a supervisor right off the bat also has the same effect.

Imagine sitting all day, every day, to someone making personal threats and
generally being obnoxious over the phone. It was actually the reason I

left
that job. And before everyone jumps in with 'if you don't like it get
another job', the state of this country doesn't exactly offer unlimited

job
opportunities.

When did we become a nation of complainers, of demanding compensation, of
throwing insults every second sentence?

Not getting at you personally, but its indicative of an attitude in this
country now. Don't accept second best but be polite, ask for help, get the
name of someone and keep on at them. Then if not satisfied...cancel.

Sunshine ive tried to be nice to these people and get no Joy !

Without going into my greavance all I want is satisfaction from them ,and
people have the right to complain if need be, over the years the the
customer care from various well known stores and big organisations as gone
down and down rapidly , no your quite right I should not call them muppets ,
muppets have more gumption. !

A couple of years ago I had a terrible time with Sky. They lost my box

which
had gone for repair and I was without Sky for 54 days in total. I made

many
calls to Sky regarding this and it was trauma from the start. However I

was
not going to let this drop. So I sent the longest email I have ever wrote

to
the directors of Sky. It was very detailed with all the dates I had

called,
no stone was left unturned. Within 2 hours of sending it I had a reply

from
Tony Ball's PA and then later she phoned me up. Then 2 days after that I

got
a new Digibox installed and 2 months free subs.

So it does pay to complain but you have to go right to the top. I still

have
the email saved, so I have the email addresses of the people I sent it to.

Just make sure you are detailed in what you are saying and do not be
abusive.....it worked for me.

Gary.

Rt Tks for that Gary will e mail these folks Ive been polite with them all

along but just not getting anywhere , got all the details written down here
so will compose them a nice very polite E Mail

When I get people asking the latter, I'll get as many details as I can before
I need to put them through to someone else, if I need to at all. I try to see
it as a challenge - if I'm in the mood to deal with someone like that - and if
you can turn it around to the point where they say something like, "I've
spoken to so many people, but it's only after speaking to you that I feel I've
actually got somewhere."

Of course there are some people who can't be helped, and there are plenty
others who simple forget to install brain before picking up the phone.

Imagine sitting all day, every day, to someone making personal threats and
generally being obnoxious over the phone. It was actually the reason I left
that job. And before everyone jumps in with 'if you don't like it get

You mean you didn't have an "Electrocute caller" button on your phone?

(I bet you're now thinking of a few you wish you could've applied that to)

When did we become a nation of complainers, of demanding compensation, of
throwing insults every second sentence?

Another good example was a time when I was trying to sort out someone's
problem, yet all they could do was harp on down the phone as much as possible.
I asked them not to behave hostile towards me (even though they had been
trying to sort it out for some time), and that just caused them to trot out
the old "Well, I've got to be hostile to somebody!"

I spoke to a colleague in another office (leaving the hostile one on hold).
That person couldn't help me either, and when I mention how this customer was
being hostile, all the colleague could do is say in an agressive tone, "Well,
they've been waiting (long period of time) so no wonder she's being hostile!"

I thought "**** me! I'm getting enough **** from the customers, I don't need
it from people who are meant to be on my side!"

Amongst all the waiting the customer went off the line anyway, so I found who
was dealing with the problem, got it sorted and made a note on the system that
if they called back (since there was no number available) to tell them it was
finally sorted.

Someone else got the customer's call shortly after, and got the same
treatment, telling them a perfect, "I do give 100%, but if you hadn't shouted
at me like that you'd have got 120%"
