Default Sky -> FTV - What Happens?

I have read the FAQs and web sites but I could not find out what the
actual procedure is for going from a Sky subscription to free digital
viewing.

Is there more to this?:

1. Phone Sky, cancel subscription (inc. obligatory rant).
2. They deactivate my account by the next day. They don't want any
equipment back (I have been with Sky for a couple of years) and should
make no more withdrawals from my bank account after they send the next
(final) bill.
3. My TV, untouched, still with the Sky card in the digibox slot, now
shows only the FTV channels. Does the EPG change?
4. All done.

PS. I'll still be able to use my 'TV link', right?

TIA :-)

The rant would be a little pointless, but if you wish...

I believe you have to give 30 days notice when cancelling a subscription.
Otherwise, correct.

3. My TV, untouched, still with the Sky card in the digibox slot, now
shows only the FTV channels.

Yup.

Does the EPG change?

Nope.

PS. I'll still be able to use my 'TV link', right?

Yup.

Rant about what? If you like the service, continue to pay. If you don't,
don't. The bod on the other end of the phone doesn't care. As someone who's
dealt with people on the phone before, just phone up, state your business
(cancelling your sub, giving a month's notice) and then go away.

The only recent change has been the BBC1 regions showing correctly, for most
people at least.

4. All done.

No reason why not.

I thought they would ask why I was cancelling.

Well if they ask why you are cancelling tell them.

Only if you get someone who hasn't fulfilled their quota of offering cheap re-
sub deals.

Yup.

It also shows the FTA channels. And to show the FTV channels will soon
require that the card be a series 2 card.
I doubt that there are many subscribers with series 1 cards left now
but any that are would be foolish to cancel until they get the series
2 card.

One important thing: don't even start the cancellation process unless
you have received a P2 Sky card (one with a picture of a house).

If you only have an old P1 card and you cancel, you will not get FTV
channels for much longer.
