You will probably have to find a second hand one as Sony no longer make
them.

Yes, if you don't want any of the Sky+ functionality. You might get live
pause / instant rewind (if you pay the tenner), but no recording.

Would only behave like a normal digibox with a single feed. No record
features.

Just **dont't** get the 750 - it's frustratingly slow.

I bought one from Unbeatable when they had them for £170 and sold it
on ebay a year later for £180 - I got two Panasonics with some of the
money and am extremely pleased!

I have the 750 version which I am currently thinking of shifting upstairs on
a mirror sub alongside a sky+ box, if you are interested in making an offer
I might reconsider.

I assume you mean the slim silver best looking box for standard sky (not

sky+).Go to Comet and see the price there, they are charging approx.
£590-00. The reason being they are no longer selling spares for them and
under comets guarantee It would cost a fortune to repair one.

Fine with me - all I'm really after is a faster digibox - I have TiVo
and a communal satellite system so I'm guessing I can't get Sky Plus'
full functionality through that.

I have two 750`s without the issues described so its a little harsh to infer
that this affects the range.

There are some known problems with the Sonys, too. I've the earlier
model (750U), and have trouble getting it to receive anything on the
transponder that Performance is on.

It's nothing to do with the frequency (that MUX moved from Astra2B to
Eurobird). It appears to be something to do with the uplink's
multiplexer. A different manufacturer's box connected to the same dish
has no problems.

The Sony also has problems with the BBCi overlay system, with the
bottom of the TV picture "tearing" on movement, when the translucent
BBCi side panel is overlaying the picture.
