You haven't been paying attention. The DOGs *have* been going off each evening and coming back on each morning. You don't expect the BBC's staff to work at night just so the few dozen people who know how to manually tune in the channels don't see a DOG do you? Dave -- Email: MSN Messenger: |

They're probably testing the postcoding system - and need to be able to tell the channels apart! And so they switch the DOG on when they're testing and off when they're not, not leaving it on all the time. Do I really have to do the BBC's work for them (?) Err - the DOGs went off at the weekend - presumably for this reason... AIUI they are there purely to allow a quick and simple confirmation of the current postcode database used to map the Sky subscriber/FTV card 101 and 102 channels to regional BBC One versions. You are right that the EPG also confirms this - but I guess using a DOG added at the regional centre doubly confirms things (as the EPG is associated with the channel in London - and was incorrectly attributed for Newcastle/Norwich/Nottingham in the early stages of testing...) says... I don't know why you are all wasting your time in here, guessing your way through the procedure thats being carried out by the BBC to map local regions and test them. Half of the comments made on here are BS. Just shut up and leave the people who know whats happening to it. The DOGS will disappear when the engineers are happy that they don't need to be there anymore. Its as simply as that. Why you all have to write a novel on the subject, I don't know.
