I am looking to connect my computer to my TV using a VGA - RGB scart
converter. There is around 10m between the two items. Assuming you are using the approx same value of cable (~£30/£40) which is it better to go for. 1. Computer - VGA/RGB Box - Long Scart Cable - TV 2. Computer - Long VGA cable - VGA/RGB Box - TV |

Computer - Long VGA cable - VGA/RGB Box - TV=20 In theory, it matters little. The signals are very similar. Obviously=20 cable quality (by which I mean design and construction, not price, brand = and looks!) will make a difference, and you may find better value for=20 money on one type over the other due to higher demand. If that is the=20 case, I guess long SCARTs would win. Another consideration is the output circuitry in your computer versus=20 that in the box. Driving long cables (high capacitive load) is harder,=20 and taxes "weak" circuitry. Both of those variables are unknown to me,=20 so I can't advise... --=20 Mark. http://tranchant.plus.com/ |

I have since found out its VGA - Component Video (Avermedia QuickPlay) I am guessing you get better quality RCA/m than VGA cables. My 20m fairly decent VGA cable cost £30. I would have thought 20m of decent 3 channel RCA would be cheaper. -- Nigel Barker Live from the sunny Cote d'Azur |
