Default DVI connection

Hello All:

I bought a Panasonic PT-L500U projector, and now I am planning to buy a V
Bravo D2 DVD player for the projector.

I need a cable of at least 7 meters length because the projector will be
ceiling mounted, I found two dealers that have these cables at a not
excessive price:
The ten meters DVI-D Dual Link cable from
http://www.pacificcable.com/DVI.htm (is in the middle of the page) that cost
$110.00
And the DVI-D Dual Link "High End" Cable, 30 feet from
http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/DVI_dl_cables.html that cost 129.95
Any opinion/suggestion? Do you know another dealer?
I still think that $110-130 is a bit too much for a cable.

Another question. I also need to plug my PC. So I am planning to buy a video
card with DVI connection. Do you have a suggestion?
I also will need something to switch the DVI connection from the DVD player
to the PC, I saw this one: http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/hd-DVI-2x1.htm
Any other suggestion?

Is there a PC video with DVI input as well as the DVI output, so I can
switch from the player to the video card without the need of an external
switch?

Thanks in advance, any information that you could provide about these issues
will be greatly appreciated.

Javier

I use a Radeon 9600 Pro, with the DVI output going to an LCD monitor
and the VGA out going to a projector. My projector does not have a DVI
input or else I would have made these connections in reverse. If you
really want to have some fun, download iTunes from apple.com an run in
visualations mode on your projector. If you have to purchase a DVI
switch box, I would consider making it future proof by buying one with
more inputs. You may be wanting to add an HDTV receiver one day. (I
use Samsung Directv HD box).

I purchased my High-End DVI from Ram Electronics when they first came out
with them over a year ago. Back then, I picked up the 50 footer for nearly
half what they are asking now. They must have seen a real demand for those
cables.

Since then, I have added a high-res flat panel LCD with DVI in the bedroom.
I had to purchase an HDTV Splitter and boost the DVI signal for simultaneous
displays.

Thanks. I think that I'll purchase a Radeon 9600 for the PC. And about the V
Bravo D2 player, I don't know what to do because I have read that it has
some problems:
there are problems with long cables (and I need a long cable)
and the contrast, brightness and saturation adjustments are not saved, so if
you unplug the unit then you need to set them again... very bad.

Do you think that if I put a DVD player in my PC and the video card Radeon
9600, could I do the same as it would be with the V Bravo D2? Do I need any
special soft for the progressive scanning?
Thanks,

Javier

If it was me, I would install a DVD burner which would also serve as
player. You also need DVD player software like WinDVD
(http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Home.jsp) or Power DVD
(http://www.gocyberlink.com/english/p....jsp?ProdId=28).
I would think that some sort of DVD player software would come with
your burner.

I am not sure that progressive scanning applies here because of your
display device and the input you are wanting to use. A projector by
it's nature is a progressive scanning device, at least while using the
DVI input. Using the composite or S-video inputs, the projector would
have to de-interlace the signal before providing to the display
circuits. I think that I am stating that right. Another place to
post this question would be he

There are many DVD players or recorders coming soon that have HDMI or
DVI output. Here's a link to AVS forum thread
