Default Help me decide what to upgrade.

Hi all,
I recently bought a some KEF speakers consisting of 4 x Qcompacts (L R SL
SR ) & 1 x Q6c (CNTR). Which I duly registered with KEF on their website.
They have a monthly prize draw for the people that bother to register
theirs. The prize was a pair of Qcompacts (£199 rrp). Which surprisingly I
won, (I never win anything). So now I've got a spare pair of speakers. I'm
trying to decide what to do.

1. Go the 6.1 or 7.1 route using said speakers and upgrade my Amp. What AV
Amp ?

2. Sell them and upgrade my DVD player or DVD Recorder. (Toshiba SD330e &
Panasonic HS2 DVD recorder). What player / recorder?

3. Sell them and upgrade my 5.1 Amp (Onkyo TX595-SE) to a better Amp? Which
5.1 Amp?

4. Sell them and keep the money aside towards a future upgrade?

Upgrade budget after speaker sale will be £400 ~ £500 max !!!

Regards,

Overlord.

Keep them until you upgrade to 7.1. You've won them, if you sell them off
(at a loss to new Q compacts) and decent to go to 7.1 you'll need to re-buy
them. With 7.1 you'll need a stereo set of speakers -I prefer diffuse
side/surround speakers but thats another matter ;-)

Look for a AV amp with a decent DSP that outputs stereo side and rears. For
example the Lexicon RV-8. I'm not sure if others do the same- current HK's
Logic 7 only "upscaled" 2 channel. I've been hearing of the next HK's
offering true 5.1 to 7.1 Logic 7 upscaling.

Personally I wouldn't spend more than £1000 on a AV amp. That rules the
Lexicon RV-8 out! :-)
