I'm in the market for a 37" or 42" plasma set and I've been having an oddly
difficult time getting to actually examine sets under viewing conditions similar to those I actually have at home. I plan on using this set almost exclusively to watch DVDs, and I don't have cable, so ED seems preferable to HD given the huge price difference. All of the stores I've been to have all of their sets rigged to display an HDTV broadcast from a central hard drive. The salespeople tell me that they are unable to hook a DVD player up to a set so that I can get an idea of what it will look like with a regular DVD instead of HD signal. Also, most of the sets are arranged so that you can't get more than a few feet away from them, making it impossible to judge how the picture looks from a normal viewing distance. Given the rather significant cost of plasma sets, I was expecting even the chain stores like Good Guys to be a little more accomidating to potential buyers. Does anyone have any suggestions for a more customer friendly Plasma dealer in the San Francisco area where I can possibly check out sets playing DVDs, regular cable, and broadcast signals from a normal viewing distance? Thanks, Dave |

Thanks, Dave If youre going to audition 480p (ED) plasma's I would strongly suggest auditioning RPLCD's (720p) Sony KF-42" 50" & 60 " -WE610's Grand Wega's. I own an HD Pany Plasma but feel these LCD's value are untouchable. http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...tSKU=KF50WE610 |
