Default VCR SCART link through?

I have a Labgear DTT100. I tried to link it to my Panasonic DK1 via a Sanyo
VCR but it didn't work so I had to use a SCART switch box (7 remotes and I
still have to get up and press a button on the switchbox to watch digital
TV). Reading a recent report in Which? magazine I noted they listed in a
summary table that Sanyo (and JVC) don't have SCART link through.

Ah! the SOLUTION I thought. So liking their review of the Toshiba V853UK I
zoomed out an bought one (actually I surfed across to RicherSounds and
bought one). Nice VCR, not really had time to see if it lives up to the
Which? review BUT when I link my Labgear through it I don't get
auto-switching. It works if I tell the Panasonic to switch to the AV input
and it auto-switches if I connect the Labgear direct to the Panasonic but
not if I link throught the Toshiba. Is this normal behaviour for VCR switch
through?

Have I got a duff VCR or is there something about the way VCRs work that
means they cannot allow the auto-switch signal through?

Any information appreciated.

John.

It may not be the default setup for the VCR. My philips requires the
appropriate scart input to be set up as "SAT" in the setup menu, any other
and it dosn't pass anything through.
