Default recommendations: cheap tv with access to a service menu

I'm seeking a cheap 28" or 32" widescreen tv. I'm not interested in any
fancy sound system it may pretend to support, but I would like to be
able to adjust it without taking the back of the set, invalidating the
warranty and blasting myself across the room!

so, are there any cheap widescreen tvs out there (i.e. under 500 GBP),
where it is possible to access a service menu via the supplied remote?

....or am I just asking for the moon on a stick?

Thanks,

Ian

Philip 28PW6006 @ around £300 - google for the model number and "service
menu" and you get thorough instructions.

Most modern TV's have access to the service level.

I would be wary of some Philips TV's- one user has reported that his a poor
quality PSU (corners bend in during bright scenes, even when contrast is
reduced) Check in a shop for geometry distortion during light scenes (lots
of white)
