series one - now playing like series two
Hi,
My dad has a series 2 tivo and I noticed that he has options to 'group' his shows by name. (Meaning, if it's 'Friends', he can have a folder and then go inside to see all of the friends listings). Is there any hack (via the remote only) that I can do this on the series one? Winbatch |

No. I've seen some discussion about hacking something like this onto Series 1 units, but if something like that ever sees the light of day, it'll require some serious hacking -- far beyond just entering a special remote code. -- Rod Smith, http://www.rodsbooks.com Author of books on Linux, FreeBSD, and networking |

That functionaslity was added with Versipn 4 of the System software, which is not available for a Series 1. |

There's no grouping, but you do know about the "SORT" feature, right? When you're in Now Playing, type "sort" on your remote.. I think it's Slow (S) Zero (O) Record (R) Thumbs Up (T) Then it'll say something like Press Enter for Display options.. You can look at that menu, but then you can also just type 1 for regular (record date based) view 2 for expiration date (useless IMHO because the only time I'd use it would be when extending the expiration date en masse.. but then it resorts every time you get back to Now Playing..) 3 for grouped by title, sub-grouped by date, newest to oldest top to bottom. I use 1 most of the time, 3 when I know I have a bunch of the same show and want to find the oldest quickly. |
