Wow, wow and wow!
Hi All,
Been lurking here awhile as I researched my foray into HTDV. I never posted as all the questions I had were already answered by some very knowledgable people in this group. I decided to post for two reasons, first, to say thank you to those that are so helpful around here and second, to say wow! I got my new Hitachi 57f500 a few days ago, and also upgraded my Comcast service to Digital and got the HTDV box. I also sprung for the HD pack for my Xbox and a new tuner/amp that supported Dolby digital (old one was pro logic only). After doing all the hookups, first thing I did was watch a movie on my progressive scan DVD - noticeable improvement, both in video and sound. A big wow here. Then, I played some Xbox games through the new HD pack - another big wow! I've only played 480p games so far, but they look noticeably better. The big wow here so far has been the dolby digital over pro logic. Stunning really. Then I watched some HD content through the motorola comcast box - big, big wow here! Man, I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but the experience is so profoundly improved over 480i that I more-or-less sat and drooled for a few hours last night in front of my set! Ok, that's it, just letting you all know there's a new convert in the ranks and one that's eagerly looked for more and more HD content! - RamsBlue |
It is undoubtedly replaces the next best wow thing from this new
century / millennium. The first wow was XM Satellite Radio. 100 digital channels that I can receive at home or anywhere else in the Cont. U.S. with NO commercials on the music channels. I still have my XM and it still rates the first wow of the century. I will never listen to terrestrial radio again, unless I'm forced to. HDTV is the second of the century, but moves to #1 overall in my list, just because not only does it sound great, but you can see it as well.
