What kind of audio are you folks running with your HDTV?

I just ordered a JVC THM606 dvd/surround system. Not the priciest system
around but seems adequate for my small living room. Just wondered what you
all are using for sound.

For some of us, the HDTV is merely an accessory to the sound system.

I use a $100 China import from Walmart. 5.1, Remote, Optical in.
I have used "computer" sound systems to punch up the audio but find that
this works very well. My room is small and I never turn louder than 60%
max. Works for me. I think Big sound is more immersive and just as
important as big TV.

I have an old Sony amp with Prologic I and four decent speakers on it. I
run the Prologic in the phantom mode so that the center channel info gets
dumped equally into front left and front right. Sounds fairly good but
I'll probably upgrade it to something capable of 5.1. Personally, I think
the newer systems do a fairly good job, even with only one sub, but I'm not
trading in my Paradigm bass reflex speakers any time soon!
