I've never thought much to the idea, but I must say my wife's new Humax
Freeview box really does make SD programmes look good. It was however necessary to adjust the contrast and brightness on the telly. Bill |

Same here, the SD picture from my BT Youview(Humax) box is noticeably superior to that from the tuner in the Panasonic TV, this is also true for a Manhattan Freesat box. Being a fan of the British Touring Car championship, I watch nearly all the live broadcasts on SD ITV4. Freesat ITV4 gives a slightly better/sharper/preferable (by me) picture than Freeview; on this channel at least. -- Ken O'Meara |

Bill everything non hd is upscaled by a hd tv itself - no need for the supplying box to do it. otherwise the PAL resolution image would be in the centre of the screen surrounded by nothingness. -- Gareth. It may be better to bypass the up-scaling inbuilt to a TV by providing a HD resolution input, albeit from a SD source. A better picture may also be produced if over scanning on a TV is turned off. -- mailto: news {at} admac {dot] myzen {dot} co {dot} uk |

Yes of course, but it seems that some upscaling is better than other upscaling. Bill |

For example, Dave Ja Vu has right now (Dave doesn't). -- Richard |
