I hadn't seen it for ~50 years, quite entertaining.

I recorded it and the start seemed quite dark.

Family tradition has it, that the original screening of The
Quartermass Experiment hastened my birth!

I hope it was better than the original, where he seemed to be played as some
demented mad scientist.
I did see it was on with AD, but did not fancy it. the tv series was much
better in my view.

Would that be Quatermass And The Pit?

I think "Quatermass and the Pit" would have been the third film.

Quatermass 2 being the second one, hence the name.

Quatermass and the Pit is IMHO the scariest, the best produced, and
fortunately the most complete and best restored in this DVD collection
of all three original TV productions from the 1950s.

Only parts of the other two productions survive, but frankly it's
remarkable that anything from television survives from this time at
all. Despite being in monochrome, the original is much better than the
movie re-make, and shows what could be done with multiple studio
cameras and film inserts, the usual production technique of the day.

I saw it when it was first broadcast, aged about ten, and at that age I
found it pretty terrifying.

No.

Cute reply.
Mark 2 was in 1957. I was 6 and don't remember it.
The Pit was in 1967, I saw it at a cinema in Blackpool.
