On CP (at least) it's a lot less powerful than the other multiplexes, and I
can only get it intermittently here (South Bucks).

Well, 34kW against 200kW for the other six muxes, so 7.7dB down, not a
*huge* amount ?

No mention of Freeview, which has been where the problem lies
for me
- I was able to record from BBC4 HD OK on Freesat.

I recorded both episodes of 'The Bridge' on BBC Four HD without
difficulty (Freeview).

Having just checked my Humax, it has no BBC4 HD channel, 106, tuned
in. Maybe I need a retune, but I don't worry about the HD channels,
so it won't worry me if it doesn't find it. Is this the referenced
'problem'?

BBC$ HD is only available on 1 or 2 transmitters at this stage so
chances are you will not be able to receive it yet.

Yes, indeed. I see that my retune date is today, so I'll do that this
evening.

It's buried somewhere in this thread :

But I think you need to have the customised software installed.
It involves copying off the .ts file and/or removing the .nts file

Thanks - I'll give it a try tonight.

Both FTP and "copy to an external USB drive" can be done using the regular
firmware - the only gotcha is that if your USB drive is Win32 (Windows), you
are limited to files less than 4GB I believe. In case anyone needs to,
there is an "ext2" driver that will read most Unix formatted USB drives on
Windows machines and you should then format the USB drive on the Humax as
Linux format and copy larger files.

It's like money. A bit is a lot if you need it.

I've found that on a few occasions I've been able to play a recording
that the Hummy reports as failed.

I didn't bookmark it but if you go to the hummy site and navigate
through the forums to the one specifically for the HDR, the thread had a
really obvious title.

Unlike SD files, HD files are not decrypted when you copy them to an
external drive and thinking back, I wonder if that might have been a
requirement for the work round meaning you would need the custom
software.

As I have the software I didn't bother to remember whether it was needed
or not.

Have a read of the thread and see what it says.

I just copy SD files from my recent Humax to a thumbdrive, and then I
watch them on my PC. I don't see any encryption, unless Ubuntu is a
more sophisticated OS than I thought.
