Freesat 212 showing a slide saying it is on from 08:30 am. with BBC News. Any idea why this is? Such a strange time to me. 08:30 is when News 24 cuts away from simulcasting the fluff that is BBC 1 Breakfast, so perhaps to avoid confusion they are waiting until then to switch on the HD version ? -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. |

... Freesat 212 showing a slide saying it is on from 08:30 am. with BBC News. Any idea why this is? Such a strange time to me. BBC News Channel splits from BBC Breakfast at 8.30am. I guess they wanted to launch it in HD with the actual news channel, rather than BBC 1 from Salford. The BBC News Channel studio is actually off the air between 1.00 am and 8.30 am. The channel takes BBC World from 1 till 6, then BBC Breakfast from Salford from 6 till 8.30. (.. only 15 minutes to go till it starts !) Yes both BBC Children's on now on Freesat. Any new non-BBC started or due on Freesat? Regards David |

For example, put in 2, EH8 9LW and look at COM7 on Black Hill. It's forecast to have much worse reception from 2014. Presumably it's not 4G interference as it's channel 32. -- Richard |

No, it'll be the launch of another Mux 7 Tx that could lead to increased co channel interference, in your case probably the launch of Durris, also on Ch 32 -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. |

While the local news from York is undoubtedly very interesting, it's of little importance to people some of whom are up to 150 miles away. -- Ian |

Though since Oxford was added to the BBC South region, there's the same situation, people in Banbury and Aylesbury get news about places that are nothing more than potential holiday locations for them. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. |

I started a timed recording about 8:25. The subtitles from BBC One were also on the News HD channel for a short while before any live video appeared. -- |

There is no question whatsoever that 100% of the 'local' output from the BBC and ITV, transmitted by a transmitter situated well within the county boundaries, is irrelevant to anyone residing in North Yorkshire. -- |
