Freeview glitches yesterday evening.
Did not seem to be any particular channel but the odd word was just cut out,
even on the just background sound. Not my end as aerial in loft, so suspect the weater might have been involved at some point. Physically, how do the signals get to Crystal Palace? over microwave links or by cable systems and what might be common to most. Brian -- From the Sofa of Brian Gaff Reply address is active |

Richard What's current practice these days Fibre or Satellite?... -- Tony Sayer BBC non-transposer stations are mainly fibre or link or both. Main stations - not just the likes of CP or EM, but essentially any station that has all six muxes - have two fibres that are not allowed closer than 10m except within 2m of the building where they can be 5m (or someting like that.) If they cannot get a fibre to site then a duplicated link is used, or in one case that I know of the first fibre was installed but when they went for Planning Permission for the second there were major local objections so the second feed was/is a link. Here's the best bit. Arqiva went out to tender for the feeds which was won by BT. BT went out to tender for maintenance of the links which NGW won - and it had/has some serious penalties on it. Then Arqiva bought NGW. What goes round comes round, as they say! -- Woody harrogate three at ntlworld dot com |
