True - and more importantly, they have never tried to weasel their way out of honouring it when I've taken stuff back there over a year later. -- Billy doesn't clean his paws often enough. I went and made a slight nuisance of myself taking a very long look at their TVs and ended up buying a Panasonic. A friend of mine has a Samsung and likes it but I found that the picture on the Panasonic looked better than the Samsung. I suspect it's very subjective though so as others say, have a look. In case you care, the Panasonic I have had built in WiFi and very good it is too. Don't know if the Samsung has this or not. And if you're a US baseball fan, you can use the MLB's app on the Panasonic, but NOT on the Samsung - it seems Panasonic have done a UK deal with MLB but Samsung have not (see the MLB website for precise details). That said, I didn't buy the TV for this (didn't know at the time) and haven't yet tried to see how good the streaming is - might try for the end-of-season package. Paul DS |

We recently bought a Phillips which is lovely - I did have to re-set all the colours and save them as a new set though, as all the pre-programmed choices were incredibly garish and made me want to take the thing back at first. Other than that, the only niggle I have is how long it takes to turn on from stand-by. It's several seconds - and that seems like quite long time, but since it's the first tele we've bought in maybe 15 years, I've no idea if they're all like that now. -- Sara cats cats cats cats cats |

As far as I know they are all like that now. Today a TV is a computer with screen, loudspeakers, tuner(s), input/output connectors, and specialist software. Like any other computer it takes time to start up. -- Peter Duncanson (in uk.tech.digital-tv) |
