Clearly there is a special multiplex for Scotland so why is Newsnight Scotland not part of it? Possibly to maintain compatibility with Freesat. I think this s called "platform neutrality". Here in Northern Ireland BBC1 NI HD has the same regional schedule as BBC1 NI SD. BBC2 NI SD has some regional programmes, but BBC2 HD does not show the same local programmes as BBC2 NI SD. That is the same on both Freeview and Freesat. That said, in the run-up to the referendum for those of us who have already decided ability to 'opt-out' of Newsnight Scotland might be very welcome :-) -- Peter Duncanson (in uk.tech.digital-tv) |

I can't get BBC1 England HD, BBC1 Wales HD or BBC1 Scotland HD via Freesat when I have the box set up using a Northern Ireland postcode. I can get all those if I switch the box to Non-Freesat mode. (I needed to do a non-Freesat scan because the HD versions of the "national regions" went live since the previous scan.) Correction: Some BBC3 and 4 programmes *were* shown on BBC HD. That *has* now become BBC2 HD - so it's already no longer the case! My earlier statement that "none of this is happening yet" referred to the provision of additional HD muxes - to provide more HD channels. *That* hasn't happened and, until it does, there'll be no more BBC3 and 4 programmes shown in HD, AIUI. -- Cheers, Roger ____________ Please reply to Newsgroup. It is a pity - many progs. don't gain much by being in HD so using what was BBC HD for those that did benfit was A Good Thing. I suppose we'll get endless cucking fooking programmes in HD, including twice-life-size shots of food going into mouth and other obscenities. -- Peter. Out of nothing but curiosity I counted the number of HD channels on my Sky box, 120, yes I know a lot are just dross, but it does show the uptake. The other thing I notice is that there is only one 3-D channel and this isn't 24 hours a day so it makes me wonder if HD has taken off as VHS and 3-D is floundering as Betamax? -- Clive |
