Sorry to reply to my own post, but this group has "digital" in its title and
Shannon developed theories about digital information transfer soon after
WWII. The one about the limit of how much data you can transmit in a
certain bandwidth is often called "Shannon's law". He had one daughter
called Margarita.

That's not the weather station, that's the area - and I suspect named
after the rather large estuary, not the town.
